Bee's Knees Cocktail with LemonAID

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a drink recipe and summer is the perfect time to get creative with a cocktail! Summer comes with too many happy hours and backyard BBQ’s, but not enough healthy drinks to choose from. So here’s one to add to your list – Bee’s Knees with LemonAID.

This is not your traditional Bee’s Knees; it’s infused with Casa de Sante's LemonAID, full of herbs and spices to help with digestion and inflammation. LemonAID is infused with 12 fruits, herbs and spices, is FODMAP friendly and gluten free. The company Casa de Santé is located in West Chester, PA and products can be purchased online and at select stores in the Philadelphia area.

The Bee’s Knees cocktail is great for those moments when you want to say no to the margarita and opt for something more healthful. I struggle constantly with what to order at the bar and how to curb my own indulgence. I’m a huge wine drinker, but know the sugar and calories are not the best for my attempts to be healthy.

Mixing honey and lemon is a double-whammy in this drink! To kick it up a notch, muddle fresh mint and every sip is light and refreshing.

Bee’s Knees Cocktail Recipe
2 oz Dry Gin (Tanqueray)
2 oz Casa De Santé LemonAID  (or substitute with other lemonade)
2 oz Simple Syrup
1 Tablespoon fresh Lemon Juice
2 -3 Mint Leaves, muddled
Club Soda, to taste (2-4 oz)

Directions:
In a small glass, add Gin and mint leaves and muddle mint.  Then add LemonAID, simple syrup, lemon juice and top off with club soda. Stir and strain with a cocktail strainer.

Simple Syrup Recipe:
½ Cup Honey
½ Cup Water

Directions:
Combine honey and water in a small pot. Heat at a medium setting until mixture is smooth. Remove or turn down heat if the mixture starts to boil.
