The grocery store doesn’t
usually make the top of the list when thinking about where to grab dinner. Insert Whole Foods Market General Tso’s meal deal! Vegan General Tso’s to be
exact, but don’t let that scare you. Whole
Foods has created a blue ribbon recipe with this one.
This recipe is so good I don’t miss the meat at all. The chewy texture and flavorful sauce is better than any mediocre china-house takeout. It’s made with seitan which is a meat substitute made from gluten (sorry for those with Celiac). Just look at that sauce! Yum!
While Whole Foods is known for over-priced organics, many may overlook their practicality for takeout. “Meal Deals” as they call them, include one entrée and two side dishes from the deli counter. Depending on the entrée, prices range from $8-$10. Even if you aren’t a Whole Food’s shopper, give the take-out a try.
Yes, thats right everything on my plate was included in the $10! I even cringe sometimes at the WF salad/hot food bar because it's priced by weight and is pricey. Not to worry when you get the meal deal. There are tons of options for sides and main dishes, from steak to fish.
So give this General Tso’s a try
when you’re craving a chinese fix or are looking for a healthy substitute to
fast food takeout!
